Defensive Driving Course

TLIC107C Drive Vehicle

Passing a driving test doesn't make you a safe driver, all drivers must continue to develop their driving skills, many people incorrectly confuse Defensive Driving with Advanced Driving.

Defensive driving is where the driver uses all possible means at their disposal to drive in a positive and safe manner. The goal at the start of every drive should be to arrive at your destination safely.

The Defensive Driving Course was originally delivered in Queensland in 1969 by members of the Queensland Road Safety Council, the goal of the course was to reduce the spiralling annual road toll to under 500 people. This course proved very successful which over 200,000 people have attended. For many years this was the best defensive driving course in Australia where people travelled to Queensland to take part in this course.

The Australian Defence Department is currently teaching this course to its members.
